Bread and Blankets

Bread and Blankets is committed to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of every donation entrusted to us. The following policy outlines how donations are used, how tax receipting is handled, and how refund requests are processed.

All donations received by Bread and Blankets are used to support our charitable mission, including but not limited to:

• Purchasing food and meal supplies

• Acquiring blankets and cold-weather essentials

• Supporting outreach and distribution efforts

• Covering essential operational and administrative costs

• Expanding program delivery across communities in Canada

We strive to allocate funds efficiently and responsibly. While donors may contribute toward specific campaigns, Bread and Blankets reserves the right to direct funds to areas of greatest need to ensure maximum impact.

2. Financial Stewardship & Accountability

Bread and Blankets is committed to responsible financial management and transparency. Funds are used to advance our mission in a manner consistent with applicable Canadian laws and nonprofit best practices.

Where applicable, financial summaries or reports may be made available to demonstrate accountability and impact.

3. Tax Receipts (Canada)

If Bread and Blankets is a registered charity under the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), eligible donations may qualify for a charitable tax receipt in accordance with CRA guidelines.

Official tax receipts will include:

• Our registered charity number (if applicable)

• Date and amount of donation

• Donor name and address

• Statement required by the CRA

If we are not yet a registered charity, donations may not be tax-deductible. Donors are encouraged to consult a qualified tax professional regarding eligibility.

4. Recurring Donations

Donors who choose to make recurring contributions may modify or cancel their recurring donation at any time by contacting:

Requests to cancel recurring donations should be submitted at least 5 business days prior to the next scheduled charge.

5. Refund Policy

Bread and Blankets recognizes that errors may occur and is committed to resolving concerns fairly and promptly.

Refunds may be considered under the following circumstances:

• Duplicate transactions

• Incorrect donation amount entered in error

• Unauthorized transactions

• Technical processing errors

Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the donation date and include:

• Full name

• Date of donation

• Donation amount

• Transaction confirmation (if available)

Approved refunds will be issued using the original method of payment whenever possible.

Please note:

• Refunds will not be issued for donations that have already been disbursed to program expenses unless legally required.

• Processing times may vary depending on payment provider policies.
